"He gave a virtuoso performance that had the audience shouting acclaim"

Born in Arizona, David Katz studied music and voice at Arizona State University.    In 1994  he went to Israel to continue his sacred studies in Cantorial music.   His uniquely beautiful voice was immediately recognized and he was engaged as the leading tenor in the Jerusalem Great Synagogue Choir.  It was in Jerusalem where he first was in touch with the world of opera….  An impresario from Budapest heard David Katz sing and invited him to join the ‘Bulgarian Touring Company’ with which he sang the leading tenor roles of Rodolfo in BOHEME, Alfredo in TRAVIATA the Duke in RIGOLETTO and Nemorino in ELISIR D’AMORE in major opera houses in Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria.

Mr. Katz returned to the United States and studied voice with Maestro Cornelius Reid while earning his masters degree in sacred music and was ordained as a cantor.   He continued his love for opera while studying with Maestro Franco Iglesias and Atarah Hazzan to  enrich his operatic repertoire, and to perfect technique and style….

He performed the roles of Rodolfo in BOHEME and Alfredo in LA TRAVIATA with Opera in the Hamptons in two consecutive seasons and has been asked to return for special concerts and recitals. During the summer of 2005 he will again sing Rodolfo and Alfredo with that company.

In Musical Theatre he sang the roles of:  Ralph in PIRATES OF PENZANCE, NankiPoo in MIKADO, Huckelberry Finn in BIG RIVER

Woof in HAIR and Riff Raff in the original stage version of the ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW.

In 2004 David Katz was the tenor soloist in CARMINA BURANA with the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra where in 2006 he will sing the tenor part in BEETHOVEN’S NINTH SYMPHONY.  Other performances were Fenton in FALSTAFF with One World Symphony of New York, FIDELIO excerpts concert with the same company, Rodolfo at the Urbania Summer Opera Festival with the Orchestra di Commune Urbania and the Orchestra di commune Macheratta……tenor soloist in Mendelssohn’s ELIJAH with the Oratorio Society of Queens and Max Helfman’s Yiddish version of JUDAS MACABEAUS with the Los Angeles Jewish Symphony.
