Melody Alesi

Clear notes, bell-like tone - a voice filled with
pathos

Melody Alesi studied voice primarily with her mother, Sandra Alesi, and subsequently with Arthur Spinetti.

After first performing in musical theater, Ms. Alesi made her operatic debut in the role of Adele (DIE FLEDERMAUS).

Recent roles include
Gilda (RIGOLETTO)
Lucia (LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR)
Violetta (LA TRAVIATA)
Luisa Miller (LUISA MILLER)
Mimi (LA BOHEME)
Susanna (LE NOZZE DI FIGARO)
Norina (DON PASQUALE)
Micaela (CARMEN)
Juliet (ROMEO AND JULIET)
and Marguerite (FAUST)

Ms. Alesi was the recipient of the 1996 and 1997 LICIA ALBANESE/ PUCCINI FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP. She was also chosen to study the role of Violetta (LA TRAVIATA) with Madame Licia Albanese and present excerpts in master classes, presented by the National Arts Club. Other awards include the SERGIO FRANCHI FOUNDATION FOR THE ARTS SCHOLARSHIP 1996 THE YOUTH CONCERT AWARD 1997 and the COUNCIL ON THE ARTS PERFORMING ARTIST GRANT 1997and 1998.

Ms. Alesi has been the soprano soloist for many of the great oratorios, including the Requiems by Faure and Brahms, Mozart's ‘Regina Coeli', Schubert's ‘Mass in G', Haydn's ‘Lord Nelson Mass' and Vivaldi's ‘Gloria'.

Ms. Alesi made her Merkin Concert Hall debut in a joint recital with Ricardo Caruso, great grandson of Enrico Caruso.

Recently, Ms. Alesi was presented as a guest artist in a benefit performance at Weill Hall featuring Metropolitan Opera Singers including Eric Halfvarson, Jonathan Welch, Emily Pulley and Diane Elias.

"A standing room audience responded to Ms. Alesi with an ovation reserved only for those who make this kind of vocal and theatrical magic. Hers is a career to watch!"

The Bergan Record

"Soprano Melody Alesi offered the audience an appealingly plaintive account of Verdi's Caro nome".

Allen Kozinn, The New York Times

"An enthusiastic standing ovation was given to Ms. Melody Alesi, prize winner of the Licia Albanese Pucinni Foundation".

Bill Zakariasen, The Westsider

"Ms. Alesi was a sparkling, truly comic Norina, who soared in florid coloratura! What a singer! What an actress!"

Tom Lenihan, Home Reporter and Sunset News

"Indeed, Ms. Alesi's Deh Vieni in act IV of Le Nozze, would have made Mozart forget Nancy Storace, his first Susanna, for whom he wrote and rewrote the aria!"

Anne Feldman, Sightlines

"Clear notes, and bell like tone. This kind of singing occurred every time Ms. Alesi was on stage. And she seems to have that "star" quality that promises much for the future."

Gary J. Morris, Boro Park Community News
